My Cateye lights are the "HL-EL135", which is the front one, and the "TL-LD130-R"; the rear (presumably denoted by the "R" at the end of the model
name).
The front light is designed to be handlebar mounted, whilst the rear wraps around the seat post. Although this is pretty standard nowadays, I think back to
the nightmare that was the "Ever Ready" set of lights I had when I had my first MTB. These had different brackets, one of which mounted on either the front fork (obviously
a lot slimmer on a fully rigid bike than a modern day suspension fork), or the seatstay - these tended to be a bit unstable and slipped a lot!).
This is the first set of lights I've had which are tool-less fitting; this was done within about 5 minutes. There is a tag of plastic left over which
ideally needs to be cut off, but I've not done this, so technically they are completely tool-less so far.
Using the lights is simple - there is one button on each, which powers the lights on as well as changes the mode that the lights operate in - there are two
basic modes for the front light, flashing and constant - the flashing mode is very economic on battery usage. The rear features these modes as well as a somewhat random
flashing pattern. Turning the lights off requires a long press of the power button.
The lights are incredibly bright, and certainly do their job on the road - aspects such as battery life and longevity can't really be commented on yet but I
will do so after a few months of use.
All in all, very pleased with the lights and their "fit and forget nature".
Overall Score: 8.5/10
