GALLERY --> Shoreham to Bramber Castle alongside the River Adur

This ride, which went from Shoreham to Bramber Castle in, erm, Bramber, alongside the River Adur, was the first off-road ride I completed since slicing my tendon, back in September.

Although technically off-road, the ride was hardly demanding; about 5 miles each way according to Google Maps. What was noticeable was the state of the ground after all the bad weather recently - it was sodden, and it took a 9 minute jetwash (used very carefully), and a good going over with some Muc-off, water, sponge and bike brush to get the bike clean again.

The route followed the River Adur from the roundabout in Shoreham Highstreet up the A283 - referred to as Old Shoreham Road and Steyning Road by Google maps - to the entrance to the path which runs alongside the River Adur, which was just before the junction with Upper Shoreham Road.

From there, it followed the River Adur as it meanders North, under the A27 bridge (pictured below), and up to Bramber.

1. The start of the track which goes along parallel to the Adur.

2. Early on in the ride, a bridge - I didn't cross this one, choosing to stay to the right of the river.

3. Shoreham Flyover - where the A27 bypass crosses the Rive Adur.

4. Further along the river.. Lancing College is in the background.

5. Seagulls feasting on the riverbank

6. More river shots.

7. Over a sty, and the track goes between the trees.

8. Another bridge; from here, you can see Bramber in the background. The castle is further to the left though.

9. The lamp post from the Chronicles of Narnia? Or is it just a sign post for Bramber?

10. Part of the remains of Bramber Castle - of which there are very few!

11. Another obligatory "bike leaning against object" shot.

12. Cleaned up Dawg hanging in its' new home.
