At the bottom of the concrete road (well, the bottom of the straight part of it - there is a hairpin bend, and the road continues back to civilisation and comes out somewhere near Shoreham), there is a path on the right.
Next to this path is a gate - go through the gate, cross the field (following the path - don't go in to the valley, which is to your left), to another gate. This takes you to the top of a steep path which leads down to the road which goes parallel to the River Adur.
