Had an absolutely manic week with sadly no bike riding.. not even to work and back. Going up north again this weekend, so won't get a chance then either, but as it's gonna be an expensive weekend, I'll be a bit skint next weekend - the perfect opportunity to not go drinking, which is very conducive to a good bike ride!
I spent the bank holiday weekend in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, well.. drinking mostly, so didn't do a single bike ride. In the spirit of such things, I thought I'd put up a picture of this van owned by a scaffolding company, which I saw on the M1 on the way up, and thought was hilarious.. take a look at that slogan ; )
Apologies for the slightly off-topic post; normal service will be resumed shortly ; )
I have, however, updated the account of my holiday riding here (you can get back to here by scrolling up).
Now got the Telscombe Cliffs bike ride gallery live.. been so busy lately it's been impossible to get it sorted.
Went drinking on both Friday and Saturday nights this weekend, but (very unusually for me..) I was feeling pretty energetic on Sunday, so did another coastal ride. This time I went as far as Peacehaven, but I followed the same route as before, so it didn't warrant a separate gallery section.
At the start of the ride (about 14:30 / 15:00), the weather was really behaving - bright blue skies and a very calm sea. I decided to turn back at Peacehaven, and it was when I got back as far as the Marina, at about 17:00, that the sky opened. I was wearing some new riding shorts that I'd bought recently, but did have some waterproof(ish) trackies in my bag, so put those on and then proceeded to get pretty wet riding the 6 miles from the Marina back to my house.
Anyway, can't complain - it was a good ride and I gave myself a really good workout on the hills, again insisting on climbing all the hills out of the saddle.
Just a quick update - I've now done all the required image manipulation to get the Telscombe Cliffs bike ride written up; I should be able to get it published tomorrow. I'll inevitably be doing some "proper" riding over the weekend, so it should make up for the rather poor showing from my time off.
